In a PIL concerning the menace of beggary in the state of Goa, the Goa government submitted that no Goan is involved in beggary in the state. Agreeing with the government’s submission, the High Court observed that there is a need to make people aware that even giving money to beggars is an offence. Adjourning the hearing to 23 June, the High Court asked the Goa government to provide the names of some NGOs that can help in the initiative to eradicate the menace of beggary from the state.
