The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has warned that it will continue showing black flags to Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar wherever he goes until the government issues a legal notification withdrawing the electricity tariff hike and scrapping the smart meter project.
AAP leaders and supporters reiterated their demand for the complete rollback of increased electricity bills and the cancellation of smart meter installations, alleging that consumers across Goa are being burdened by excessive power charges. They also cautioned workers of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) against using abusive language against the minister's critics.
According to AAP leaders, party workers had planned to stage a protest outside the Power Minister's residence on Sunday. However, police personnel intercepted and stopped the protesters on the way. Upon learning that Dhavalikar was attending a private function in Ponda, AAP workers rushed to the venue and raised slogans against the minister while displaying black flags.
The protest led to a tense situation after MGP workers also gathered at the spot. Party Leadwers from both sides engaged in slogan-shouting and heated exchanges.
