Accidents are heart breaking and tragic events. Some lose lives and others lose livelihoods due to the consequences. Dinesh Vassant Dessai, a resident of Gaulim Wada, Kakoda, Vodlemol, Curchorem met with a self-accident on 9 June 2017 sustaining head injuries leaving him bed ridden in the state of 100% disability. His salary was discontinued after he exhausted his EL sick leave. An officer was informed about the incident and situation during his visit to Chandreshwar IRBn camp. A team of officers visited him at his residence. It was distressing to see his condition and the economic hardships he has been facing. The office staff were persistently following up with the Home Department which had rejected the request for his salary under disability act. After intervening with all concerned officials at the secretariat and getting him examined by the medical board, they were finally able to get the order of restoring his salary including the arrears, as a gesture of a Good Samaritan deed. The officers of IRBn visited his residence and handed over the said order. It was indeed very fulfilling to see a smile on his face as well as his mother who showered her blessings on the staff of Goa Police and the staff of Chandreshwar Camp for being available in their time of need.
