Shirgao is immersed in religious fervour as preparations peak for the famous Lairai Jatra. Devotees have been arriving in large numbers since morning, filling the village with chants, prayers and spiritual energy.
The sacred Homkand ritual will be lit on Wednesday morning, marking an important part of the festivities. The Dhond rituals have already begun, drawing huge crowds of devotees who have gathered to participate in the age-old traditions with deep faith and devotion.
Amid the spiritual celebrations, authorities have made elaborate security arrangements. In the backdrop of last year’s stampede, tight security has been put in place to ensure the safety of devotees. A strong police bandobast has been deployed across Shirgao, and as many as 94 CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the situation.
Despite the heavy rush, the atmosphere remains vibrant and devotional, as thousands of devotees continue to throng Shirgaon to seek the blessings of Goddess Lairai.
