The Jackfruit Festival 2026, organised at Kumbi Bhavan in Joida by the Horticulture Department in collaboration with various organisations and associations, received an enthusiastic response from farmers, entrepreneurs and the public. The festival was inaugurated by Joida Tahsildar Manjunath Munnalli.
Speaking on the occasion, Munnalli said the festival was aimed at promoting indigenous jackfruit varieties, encouraging farmers and creating market opportunities for value-added jackfruit products. He noted that such events help establish direct links between farmers, producers and consumers while also opening up self-employment opportunities for women’s self-help groups and youth.
Joint Director of the Horticulture Department, Satish B.P., highlighted the importance of jackfruit as a multi-purpose tree. He explained that its fruit, seeds, leaves, wood and bark have various uses and contain several nutritional benefits.
A large number of people from rural areas participated in the festival. More than 50 food products made from jackfruit were displayed, showcasing the fruit’s versatility and commercial potential.
Among those present were Panchayat Samiti President Bharati N.E., District KDP Member Sadanand Dabgar, Gram Panchayat Officer Laxman Kamble, Director of RUDSETI Haliyal Kiran Kumar Bagadi, and Kali FPO President Shantaram Kamat, along with other dignitaries.
